MezzWestSkidompha Public Library offers a full range of handy services including:

  • Borrowing Privileges: Skidompha Cardholders may check out books, audio books, videos and other materials. Residents of the towns of Damariscotta, Newcastle and Nobleboro can obtain library cards for free. Residents of other towns may obtain library cards for $40 per year.
  • Reference Services are available in person, by phone or by e-mail: Got a question?

  • Local History and Genealogy Room Resources. We can help you search your roots and discover more about this area’s fascinating history.
  • Photocopies and computer print-outs: 15¢ per page. No discounts for volume.
  • FAX machine: $1.00/page (Incoming faxes must have a cover sheet.)
  • Renew Online: Skidompha Public Library card-holders can renew books online by clicking here.
  • Reader Advice: Can’t think of a thing to read? Our librarians would be happy to offer suggestions.
  • Inter-Library Loans (ILLs): You may obtain books, audio Books, and films free of charge from other library collections via our inter-library loan program. This service is available only to holders of Skidompha or Skidompha Consortium library cards.

  • Computers and Internet Access: The library’s desktop PCs are configured especially for library patrons and are equipped with popular software for word processing, Internet browsing, spreadsheet applications and other uses. They are available for 30 minutes on a first-come, first served basis. Feel free to bring your own laptop to the Library. We have many quiet places for research and reflection where you may plug into one of the computer ports available to patrons, or use our Wi-Fi connection to check your email, update your portfolio or find answers to your questions through online sources. Skidompha is connected to the Internet via two high-speed T-1 lines.  Wireless Internet access for library visitors has been available since 2003.
  • Meeting Rooms: We offer two meeting rooms suitable for groups of eight to 12 people. These are free to the public but we ask that these be scheduled in advance by contacting the library.  For larger groups, the Porter Meeting Hall is available for a  small fee.
  • The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop  is a great source of inexpensive reading materials donated by our friends.

Story Hour Spring 2004b

  • Kid Stuff: Skidompha offers a wide range of programs and services for young people. These include:
  • Tuesdays 9:30 – 10:15 AM Toddler Time – Stories, songs & rhymes, and a simple craft for our friends ages 2-5
  • Wednesdays 10:00 10:30 AM Book Babies – Stories, songs, and fingerplay for babies 0-3 and their caregivers
  • Saturdays 10:00 – 11:00 AM Saturday Story – Time Songs, puppets, stories and crafts for all ages
  • Many special programs are offered throughout the year, including musical performers, puppet shows, children’s theater programs, drumming, youth-oriented movie premieres, arts, crafts and nature programs and much more!
